It’s hard to believe that it has taken me over 6 months to sit down and write this post. Late last year I decided that Nasuni wasn’t for me, it wasn’t the people (Jeff, Paul, and Will, you guys are the best), it just wasn’t the perfect role for me; at the same time, I was also asked if I would be interested in re-joining Zerto as a product manager.
I had gotten a preview of product management while I was at Zerto (and at Nasuni), and it sounded pretty exciting. I mean who wouldn’t want to help set the vision for a product that you’ve used for over a decade? So in November, I made the jump back to Zerto (which would only be Zerto officially for 30 days) which would become “Zerto a Hewlett-Packard Enterprises company” officially on December 1.
So what took so long to write this post? Well, I jumped in right around the time Zerto 9.5 planning was kicking off. I had to get to work helping to set the roadmap for Zerto for VMware and Hyper-V. Now 9.5 and 9.5u1 is out the door, 10.0 is in development, and I’m sitting at Engineering kickoff and starting to plan Zerto 10.5, but I can’t complain, after sitting at home for 2 years during covid, the view is pretty nice!
Unlike the first time I joined Zerto, my three kids are now old enough to be in (probably) every activity available, and if you have kids you know how much “free time” that leaves you with.
Oh, and I bought one of the family farms and became a part-time farmer (again)… so, life has been busy.
So between kids, farming, gardening, and learning the ins and outs of a new career path, the blog has taken a backseat. Hopefully, I can get back into a more regular cadence and start sharing details of the new stuff I’m working on.
I have a backlog (he, see what I did there… product manager speak) of blog posts around the new Linux Zerto Virtual Management appliance which was just released, as well as a bunch of scripting stuff.
So, stay tuned!
